All depends what your utility charges/reimburses you for electricity. Your utility charges you in terms of $/kWh or dollar per kilowatt-hour. If you have a given solar system, say one that can produce 7-kilowatts of power, then on a sunny day, your system can produce optimal for a given amount of time given the region you live in, say Florida, which is 5-hours. That would mean your solar system could produce 7kW x 5-hours or 35kWh. If the utility reimburses you at $0.12/kWh then that's $4.20 for that day.
